Anxiety and worry
A natural response to stress and is characterised by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure. It is a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come, often triggered by an uncertain outcome or a perceived threat.
The experience of an event by a child that is emotionally painful or distressful, which often results in lasting mental and physical effects through up to adulthood.
The ability to exert control over one’s own emotional state. It may involve behaviours such as rethinking a challenging situation to reduce anger or anxiety, hiding visible signs of sadness or fear, or focusing on reasons to feel happy or calm.
Family concerns encompass a wide range of issues that affect the dynamics and well-being of family members. Parenting concerns revolve around the challenges and responsibilities of raising children.
Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness.
A common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep.
During a depressive episode, a person experiences a depressed mood (feeling sad, irritable, empty). They may feel a loss of pleasure or interest in activities. A depressive episode is different from regular mood fluctuations. They last most of the day, nearly every day, for at least two weeks.
Personal relationship issues encompass a wide range of difficulties that can occur in romantic relationships, friendships, and family interactions. These issues can arise from misunderstandings, differing expectations, communication breakdowns, and many other factors.
Job stress is the physical and emotional response that occurs when the demands of a job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged and excessive stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.
A condition characterised by persistent, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) performed to reduce or avoid distress, feelings of disgust, the need for things to feel “just right,” or to prevent a feared event.
A condition characterised by a preoccupation with one or more perceived flaws in physical appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others, causing significant distress. It involves repetitive behaviours like mirror checking, appearance comparisons, excessive grooming, skin picking, and reassurance seeking.
Triggered by experiencing or witnessing traumatic events, characterised by intrusive memories, flashbacks, severe anxiety, nightmares, and avoidance of anything related to the trauma. Complex trauma involves prolonged or repeated exposure to traumatic events, leading to more pervasive psychological effects.
Conditions in children that include anxiety disorders, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorders, affecting their emotional well-being and behaviour. These disorders can lead to difficulties in managing emotions, following rules, and interacting with others.
Neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Individuals with ADHD may have difficulty focusing, following instructions, organising tasks, and staying still or quiet in appropriate situations.
Conditions that affect the ability to acquire and use academic skills, including dyslexia (difficulty with reading), dyscalculia (difficulty with math), and dysgraphia (difficulty with writing). These disabilities can impact educational performance and daily functioning.
ADHD Assessment
A comprehensive evaluation to determine whether a person meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. It can be used for school and exam accommodations, as well as to monitor ADHD neuropsychological symptoms and inform treatment planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’re making mental health care more affordable at $140 for a 50-minute counselling session and a revised rate of $220 (U.P. $250), all inclusive of GST, for a 50-minute clinical (psychotherapy) session.

Choosing between a counsellor and a clinical psychologist depends on your needs and goals. Counsellors are skilled in providing support and guidance, helping you navigate life’s challenges, improve communication skills, and foster personal growth. Their approach is ideal for managing stress, dealing with life transitions, or improving relationships.

Clinical psychologists, on the other hand, have specialized training in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. They employ a variety of therapeutic techniques to address more complex psychological issues such as depression, anxiety, and ADHD. If you’re seeking help for specific mental health conditions or need a more in-depth psychological assessment, a clinical psychologist might suit you better.

Each session can be up to 60 minutes long.

In your initial meeting, your therapist will conduct a thorough intake assessment to fully understand your unique situation. They’ll inquire about your concerns, family background, social interactions, previous counseling experiences, as well as hopes and expectations. Rest assured, all information shared will be held in the strictest confidence, upholding our commitment to your privacy. We provide you with a secure, private, and non-judgmental environment, allowing you to express your feelings and thoughts openly and without fear of judgment.

After gathering this information, your therapist will carefully explain what you can expect in upcoming sessions, answering any questions you may have, and ensuring you feel comfortable and ready to proceed. Together, you and your therapist will create a collaborative and adaptable treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals. This personalized approach ensures that your therapy sessions align with your objectives, laying the groundwork for meaningful progress and positive change.

Seeking the expertise of a Clinical Psychologist or Counsellor is often a step taken to address mental health concerns, manage life challenges, or pursue personal growth. Our clinic specializes in both mental health conditions and assessments, providing tailored support for issues ranging from Obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety, and depression to learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and more.

Whether you’re seeking understanding, coping strategies, or therapeutic intervention, our team is here to provide the compassion and professional care aligned with your specific needs and goals.

Yes, parents of minor clients are required to sit in for the first part of the initial session to understand the therapy process and what it entails. This time allows parents to express any questions or concerns, and the therapist may discuss the treatment plan and ways parents can support their children at home.

After this initial portion of the session, we encourage parents to allow their children to engage in individual therapy time. However, some children may feel more comfortable with a parent present, or the therapist may recommend parental involvement in certain circumstances.

Our approach is flexible and geared toward creating a safe and confidential environment that best meets the child’s needs. Anything shared with the therapist will remain private unless the child consents to share it with you. We place a high priority on your child’s privacy, creating a trusting relationship that enables effective therapy.

The number of therapy sessions required to see improvement is highly individual and depends on several factors. These include the nature and severity of the problem, the risk level, the client’s motivation and dedication to the process, as well as support and resources available outside of therapy. Urgent situations arising between sessions may also influence the number of meetings needed.

At our clinic, we follow an evidence-based approach to determine the most effective treatment plan tailored to your unique situation. Your therapist will assess your progress and needs throughout the therapy process and will usually conduct a review mid-way. This evaluation helps in determining how many additional sessions might be best for you.

At our clinic, maintaining your confidentiality is a top priority. We adhere to strict privacy laws, including HIPAA compliance, and are ISO27001 certified. Our state-of-the-art electronic health record (EHR) system ensures that all client information is securely stored and accessed only by authorized personnel.

Communication between therapists and clients is conducted through secure channels, and all staff are trained in maintaining confidentiality. Rest assured, your information is protected with the highest standards of care and privacy.

Recognizing when a child needs therapy can be complex, and our team of professionals is here to help you navigate this decision. Signs that your child may benefit from therapy include significant changes in behavior, mood, or social interactions; difficulties at school; or other concerning symptoms.

Our clinicians can provide an assessment to determine the best course of action. Supporting your child through therapy involves open communication, showing empathy, and working collaboratively with the therapist. We’re here to guide both you and your child through the entire process, ensuring the best care.

Our clinic specializes in various assessments tailored to individual needs. These might include mental health evaluations, learning disability assessments, and more. Assessments are conducted by trained clinicians using evidence-based tools and methods.

The process typically involves interviews, observations, and standardized testing, as required. Our commitment to comprehensive and compassionate care guides every aspect of our assessment process.
