Elaine

Counsellor

Elaine’s approach to counselling is built upon compassion and respect for the individual person. She offers relational depth by attuning to her clients with empathetic listening and sensitive observation. She is curious to explore especially the unconscious within clients, for more expansive self-discoveries, meaning-making and reflexivity. She views every session as a co-creation of open dialogue.

Both personal and professional experiences have led her to work with people as young as 12 years old to adults of all ages and life stages. Her helping endeavours have supported people going through loss and grief, bereavement, physical and mental health diagnoses, life transitions, identity crisis, anxiety and low mood, relationship issues, cross-cultural issues, acute and chronic inter-generational trauma, suppressed memories, special needs, caregiving distress, at-risk situations and suicidality.

Elaine completed her Master of Counselling (Interpersonal Dialogue) with Merit at the University of Edinburgh and is a registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. Her primary specialisations are in Psychodynamic Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy. According to the client’s needs, she also draws on the useful assimilation of Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Systemic Modality, Somatic/Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Elaine believes in using symbols, art and playfulness in session to invite new possibilities of insight.

Supporting her personal wellbeing are her pursuit of spirituality and her love for artistic expressions.
