Eugene Tay is a highly experienced Counselling Psychologist, adept at working with individuals across the lifespan, from adolescents and adults to couples. He has worked in primary care, secondary care, and specialised mental health settings.
He has a profound interest in supporting individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis and has extensive experience working with clients facing adjustment disorders, affective disorders, anxiety, stress, trauma, and relationship challenges.
Eugene views therapy as a collaborative journey where clients can openly share, reflect, and process their psychological and emotional issues. He employs a person-centred and integrative therapeutic approach, aiming to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. His interpersonal style balances warmth and empathy, ensuring a holistic therapeutic journey. Eugene’s methodology is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). He also incorporates other therapeutic modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In addition to his clinical work, Eugene provides supervision to counselling and psychology students. He spent over a decade in the public sector, treating a wide range of conditions from adjustment difficulties to first-episode psychosis before transitioning to private practice.
Eugene has served as a Clinical Supervisor at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore, for the Advanced Diploma in Counselling since 2012. He is registered with the British Psychological Society’s Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU) and is a Full Member of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
