Suganthi Balakrishnan

Counsellor

Suganthi is a SAC-registered counsellor, dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s challenges with compassion, professionalism, and care. She holds a Master’s in Counselling and Guidance from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

She has experience working with adolescents and young adults facing academic difficulties, relationship and interpersonal challenges, as well as family-related concerns and crisis situations. She also supports persons with disabilities in their transition back into employment, helping them rebuild confidence, independence, and a meaningful sense of direction.

Her professional experience spans both educational and community settings, where she has worked with individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds across a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and interpersonal concerns.

Suganthi believes in every individual’s innate capacity for healing when supported within a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental therapeutic space. She integrates evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness-based stress reduction practices. She also incorporates trauma-informed and imagery-based techniques to support emotional processing, reduce triggers, and promote overall well-being and better quality of life.

Outside of her counselling work, Suganthi values mindfulness, does yoga, and spends time in nature. She enjoys running, hiking, and kayaking-activities that support her own sense of balance, resilience, and well-being.
